Hadley Learning Community - Secondary
Educational Visits
At HLC we aim to offer students a broad, rich, and engaging curriculum
We are committed to delivering a broad and balanced curriculum to enable students to achieve their best and be well equipped for the future. Our curriculum is enhanced by wide range of sustained enrichment opportunities enabling students to discover and nurture their individual talents and interests. Students apply a growth mindset to both their academic and personal progress and we celebrate success at all levels.
We will create opportunities for lifelong learning ensuring that their time within our classrooms is only the beginning of their journey. Our students will be equipped with a love of learning that will provide them with the skills to contribute to their world whether it be locally, nationally or globally. Our vision is to provide our students with an exciting curriculum and linked opportunities that inspire them to charge at barriers that might stand in their way to fulfilling their goals. We will mould our young peoples’ lives through the arts, sports, STEM and hundreds of other initiatives giving them the tools to flourish.
We believe that every child should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances.
Offsite activities as well as in-house experiences have a great potential for enhancing the educational, personal and social development of students by enabling them to participate in experiences which are not available to them within the usual classroom or school setting.
Our curriculum is enhanced by wide range of sustained enrichment opportunities enabling students to discover and nurture their individual talents and interests.

EXPECTATIONS
Whilst on visits students are reminded that they are representing the academy and are expected to behave according to the academy’s behaviour policy, showing respect and courtesy to the public as well as staff. The academy reserves the right to refuse any student a place on a visit if their behaviour is judged to be inappropriate before the visit. All students will be briefed prior to any visit as to what is expected of them. Students are also reminded that they need to catch up on any schoolwork missed during the time away on a trip.
Payment
For all our trips where a payment is required, we use a program called ParentPay. This system allows parents to not only pay for a trip but also give their consent for their child to attend. Regardless of whether the trip is free or at a cost, consent is given through this program. It is important to have an activated ParentPay account so that your child does not miss out as spaces as some of our enrichment and career trips are limited.
To activate your ParentPay account you will require a unique username and password, which school can provide you with. Set up is easy and all you require is a phone, laptop or tablet and a working email address.
GLOBAL CONSENT
For those trips that are free of charge, and take place during normal school hours, we use Global Parental Consent. This is extremely popular with both our parents and students alike, and we use the Global Consent held on the academy system to allow students to attend visits at short notice, due to absence of a student or a change of mind on the day. The Global Consent Form is given out to all new starters here at HLC and should be completed and handed in with the necessary school application forms.
Parents/carers will always be notified of any trip by letter, and an email will be sent out with all the details closer to the date of the visit. Should your child wish to take a vacant space on a trip that day parents will be notified.
If you have not given school your Global Consent it is easy to do so, just email the school office and ask for this to be added to your child’s school account.
