Transitions
At HLC Secondary
We understand that transitioning to a new school is a significant milestone for students and their families
We are dedicated to making this experience as exciting and seamless as possible with our exceptional Transition Programme. Our aim is to ensure that students step into their first day in September brimming with enthusiasm and confidence, ready to embark on an exciting new chapter of their educational journey.
In Year 6, we warmly invite students and their parents/carers to our Welcome Evening in June. This special event is an opportunity for new students to meet their Head of Transition, who will be their guide and support throughout the entire process. During this evening you will receive information and support which will help you through your transition into Year 7.
In their final term at Primary School, students will be visited by our transition team who will give an introductory talk and answer any questions that the students may have. Members of the pastoral team and SEND team also meet and gather information from the Primary Schools through talking to teachers about individual needs. We work closely with all our feeder schools and pride ourselves on building these important connections.
As well as the two traditional transition days, there may be opportunities for additional transition sessions depending on whether this is needed. Pupils who meet the criteria for these sessions will be contacted separately but if you feel your child would also benefit from extra support through transition, please do not hesitate to contact our Assistant Vice Principal: Behaviour and Standards KS3.
