EDUCATION
Special educational needs and inclusion
At HLC Secondary and across the Learning Community Trust, we strive to meet the needs of all our students.
Welcome to the SEND and Learning Support Page
At HLC, we take great pride in our strong commitment to supporting students with special educational needs and promoting a truly inclusive learning environment. Our approach is built on collaboration, ensuring that every student and family feels supported to achieve success in all areas of school life.
We believe that every young person deserves access to a broad, balanced education in which they feel valued, confident and fully included. Through our inclusive ethos, we encourage students to develop independence and self-awareness so they can understand and manage their own learning needs as they grow.
Students at HLC benefit from a fully inclusive educational experience supported by our dedicated SEND provision. This includes a range of carefully planned interventions addressing the four areas of need, alongside structured Preparing for Adulthood and Nurture programmes that support students both academically and in developing essential life skills.
All interventions are carefully planned, quality assured and integrated into each student’s timetable to support both academic progress and social development.
We warmly encourage families to stay connected with us by attending our regular drop-in sessions. These sessions provide an opportunity to see the support taking place within the academy, discuss your child’s progress with our team, and meet local organisations who offer Early Help and additional support for families.
