Young people today are living in a rapidly changing world and so preparing our students for the challenges and opportunities out there is a vital aspect of their education. Hadley Learning Community is committed to supporting and developing each student to gain the skills needed to progress on to their next pathway.

An important part of student development is the idea of responsibility and independence, to give students the confidence to pursue their chosen career path.

For support with helping your child make the right decision please see our resources page, as well as the newsletter which contains information about careers events each term

How can you help?

  • Talk about careers regularly at home – the different jobs you may have had, how you decided on your current career path and what you have learned from all of your combined experiences
  • For parents of Year 10 help your child to secure a work experience placement, support them in the application process and talk about the experience before, during and after the placement. More information available on the Work Experience page.
  • Help them in producing their own CV. Help them to detail their skills, experiences and qualifications.
  • Attend the annual Careers Fair for the opportunity to speak in person with employers and further education institutions.
  • Attend College Open events to explore what different establishments have to offer. Prospectuses are available, but it is good to get a feel of the campus.
  • If you work for an employer who would be willing to support our careers education provision, be that through presenting an assembly, attending the careers fair as an exhibitor, we would love to hear from you. Head over to the Employer page to find out more
