Dear Parents and Carers,
Following a further review of the weather forecast and the conditions within our school buildings, we have taken the difficult decision to remain closed on Friday 26th June, with remote learning continuing for the majority of students.
We fully appreciate the inconvenience that a second day of closure will cause many families and have not taken this decision lightly. However, the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff must remain our highest priority
As with yesterday’s decision, we would like to reassure parents and carers that school closure is always a last resort. We only close the school in exceptional circumstances after carefully balancing the educational benefits of remaining open against the health and safety risks to pupils and staff.
Although external temperatures are forecast to reduce slightly tomorrow, many areas of our school buildings have retained significant heat over the past few days, meaning indoor temperatures will remain exceptionally high. Alongside the ongoing impact on catering and other essential services, we do not believe it is appropriate to reopen the school fully tomorrow.
Remote Learning – Friday 26th June
Years 7, 8 and 9
Students should complete:
•SPARX Maths
•SPARX Reader
•SPARX Science
Students should log in using their normal account details and complete all assigned activities.
Year 10
Year 10 students will take part in three live Teams lessons tomorrow:
•10:00am – English
•11:00am – Science
•12:00pm – Maths
A further communication will be sent to Year 10 students and parents with details of how to access these lessons via Microsoft Teams, together with expectations for student conduct and online learning etiquette.
In addition, Year 10 students should continue to complete work via:
•SPARX Maths
•SPARX Reader
•SPARX Science
Subject-specific work, revision materials and independent learning activities may also be set through Satchel One. Students should check Satchel One regularly throughout the day and complete any additional work set by their
teachers.
Support for Families
We recognise that continued school closure may present challenges for some families, particularly where childcare arrangements are difficult or where students have limited access to online learning.
As with today, on-site provision will remain available for students who need it most, including those who require supervision or access to learning facilities. If you require a place in school for your child, please complete the Microsoft Form linked below by 5:30pm this evening so that we can plan staffing and provision appropriately.

Students attending school should arrive at their normal time and will be supervised throughout the day whilst completing the remote learning activities outlined above.

Pastoral Support

Looking Ahead
The weather forecast indicates that temperatures should begin to return to more typical levels over the weekend. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday 29th June, as planned.

We recognise the disruption this has caused to family routines and greatly appreciate the way our community has worked together to prioritise the wellbeing of our young people.
