Uniform
WE BELIEVE
School uniforms help to define the ethos of an academy and the standards expected.
They help give students pride in their academy and make them ambassadors for their academy in the community.
As an academy we have designed our uniform to ensure that it is inclusive as possible, whilst being mindful to ensure that it is cost effective for parents/carers.
Uniform list
Students should travel to and from school in full uniform.
- Black HLC blazer with the HLC logo
- White shirt – with the top button fastened
- School tie – house colours
- Optional black school jumper with HLC logo
- Black trousers for boys or girls OR black skirt (maximum of one inch above the knee) for girls
- Black shoes – Please purchase plain and traditional leather school/work shoes. No trainers or pumps. Any brand such as Nike, Adidas and Converse will be classed as trainers
- Plain black socks
- School bag with the HLC logo
PE and Dance Kit
- Black short sleeved polo shirt embroidered with HLC logo
- Black shorts embroidered with HLC logo
- Black socks
- Trainers
- Football boots
- Shin pads
- Gum shield
- Black swimwear (Years 7 and 8)
The following items are NOT part of school uniform and must not be worn
No leather/denim jackets or hoodies
- No trainers to be worn around the building other than for PE/dance
- Hairstyles should project a traditional professional image.
- Strongly coloured hair is not acceptable.
- Shaven heads/razor markings are not permitted.
- Make up/nail varnish and patterns is not permitted.
- Body piercing and body decoration will not be permitted.
- 1 pair of stud earrings in the lower lobe of each ear and a watch are permissible.
Unacceptable Clothing/Accessories
In addition to the uniform policy, the following items of clothing/accessories are unacceptable and should never be brought onto the school site:
- Clothing with slogans that may cause offence (anti-religious, symbolism or political slogans) • Clothing which advertises alcohol, tobacco or drugs
- Clothing which can be deemed unsuitable in terms of health and safety grounds, such as shell suits, combat style clothing, dangling earrings, loose fitting clothes particularly in practical classes
- Articles of clothing that could be deemed to inflict damage on other pupils or be used by others to do so
- Footwear that may damage flooring
If in doubt with any of the above please contact your Pastoral Year Lead, especially before purchasing items of uniform or selecting certain hairstyles.
